21 million people worldwide are being enslaved through human trafficking to a 2015 study. 22% of those people are put into prostitution which is about 4,620,000 people. Human trafficking isn’t only in third world countries or places outside of the U.S. either, it happens in all 50 states of the United States. Its a huge business industry, over 100 million dollars per year are made through human trafficking. While a large part of that money is made through sweat shops in places like China, money is being made through prostitution.
Ways you can help eliminate human trafficking are abundant. Firstly, don’t participate with human trafficking in any way possible. Don’t go order a prostitute because it is only helping the business. There are sites that you can donate money to that helps shut down the bosses of these human trafficking “companies”. If you see trafficking going on, SAY SOMETHING! Do not confront them personally because they could potentially harm you, but notify your local police department and have them take a look, you may save someone’s life.
